To the Best of My Recollection, 2009
I embarked on this project to see if I could recreate the memories captured in old photographs. Specifically, I aimed to recreate images taken by my parents twenty-five years ago. To do this, I used our family album as a reference and visited the original locations where the photographs were taken. I recreated the poses as closely as possible to the original shots. Instead of using digital photography, I opted for a point-and-shoot disposable camera and had the film processed at a one-hour service. After spending a lot of time setting up the shots, I realized that while I could technically replicate the images, I could never truly recreate the moments captured in the original photographs. I understood that my parents' memories are unique to the original instant photographs they took, and my photographs are merely my interpretation of what's in the originals.
